Acne Prone OR Mature Skin Can Be Treated For Surface Texture

If you’ve been concerned about maturing skin or an acne problem, consider resurfacing for your mature or acne prone skin for a fresher and more youthful appearance.   Make an appointment today for an in-person consultation with Dr. Jay Calvert at the RoxSpa Aesthetic Center in Beverly Hills, California.   The consultation is an important part of the decision-making process, ensuring that the doctor understands the concerns of the patient and also that the patient fully grasps their available options and can make an informed decision.  Dr. Calvert is a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon offering services in both Beverly Hills and in the heart of Newport Beach at Fashion Island, and offers consultation scheduling several times per week to help you plan a procedure that is right for your needs.

There are a couple of straightforward options for a facial peel, and both are designed to treat a multitude of skin issues from acne breakouts and scarring to oily skin and pigmentation concerns such as age spots.  Dr. Calvert offers the basic PCA or enzyme peel, also popularly known as the “lunch-time” peel, which contains the beta-hydroxy salicyclic acid.  Beta hydroxy acids (BHAs) work by speeding up the sloughing of already dead skin cells, effectively revealing the fresh new skin underneath by banishing the dirt, oil and debris of lifeless skin.  These BHAs are found naturally in various fruits and plants, such as willow bark, wintergreen and sweet birch bark.

While you’re thinking about the facial peel, be aware that peels are also beneficial for the hands, feet and other areas of the body that may be callused or sun-leathered such as the arms, legs, shoulders and back.  The peel reveals a softer layer to these areas in addition to the face.  In addition to the widely accepted lunch time peel, Dr. Calvert offers the TCA (Trichloroacetic acid) peel.  This is the more aggressive treatment designed to go beyond the very surface layers to the slightly deeper dermal layers of skin affected by environmental elements or discolorations and scarring.  Expect to have sedation with this procedure, as it can produce uncomfortable sensations in the skin due to its more aggressive nature.

The experienced practitioners at RoxSpa Aesthetics can help you determine which procedure suits your skin.  They can also tell you about the brand new Pixel Resurfacing procedure which can produce similar results without the sedation.

Make your appointment today with Dr. Calvert, http://www.drcalvert.com/, at the Roxbury Clinic and Surgery Center or the Fashion Island office at Newport Beach.  Consultations are complimentary.  You can always refer to the current calendar for scheduling dates, http://www.drcalvert.com/calendar.aspx .  Special requests are available for Saturday appointments for your added convenience.
