Dr. Jay Calvert, MD, FACS, an experienced cosmetic surgeon, consulted with Jenille to explain the details of the operation as well as the preparation ad after care needed for it. He performed what he calls “an aggressive approach to otoplasty” in order to correct her ears. Jenille came out of the successful surgery and was satisfied with the results. She said the condition has been affecting her self-confidence and now she regained her self-esteem.
Jenille always thought that her ears are too big for her face, because of this, she suffered from lack of self-esteem and was always trying to hide her ears behind her hair. On one episode of the Tyra Banks’ Show, Jenille explained her situation and she was introduced to Los Angeles-based plastic surgeon, Dr. Jay Calvert to perform an initial consultation. Dr Calvert took a look at her ears and was confident that he could provide a solution for the patient. After a few more discussions and after understanding everything that she needs to know about the procedure, she was then scheduled for surgery.
Dr. Calvert, the well-renowned cosmetic surgeon, stated that what he did was an aggressive type of otoplasty. He explained that he had to remove cartilage from the ball of the ear in order to change its appearance. He then recreated the fold of the ear and tucked the entire ear back to the skull; this prevented the ear from sticking out. Finally, Dr. Calvert took some of the extra skin out from the front of the ear in order to reduce its size. The surgery result showcased a new ear that was significantly smaller in size and properly tucked back to the head.
After the operation, Jenille and Dr. Calvert went back to the Tyra Banks’ Show to tell the people how successful the operation was. They made a comparison between the pre and post surgery photos to highlight the aesthetic improvement that the otoplasty was able to achieve. Jenille was very grateful for the outcome of the procedure and praised Dr. Calvert for being a very capable and thorough surgeon.
