Dr. Jay Calvert, MD, FACS Joins With Other Surgeons to Create Surgical Friends Foundation

Currently there are millions of people all over the world who are afflicted with acquired, congenital or post traumatic physical deformities, however due to lack of monetary funds or access to quality health care, they continue to suffer with their deformities and never get proper medical help. The vision of the founding members of Surgical Friends Foundation is to unite a team that would reach out to all those suffering from physical deformities and give them access to quality medical care.

Surgical Friends Foundation aims to bring philanthropists, surgeons and other medical professionals together to help patients, from any part of the world, who are suffering from life-threatening reconstructive cases and do not have access to proper medical procedures or equipments. Another goal of the organization is to equip and educate medical teams from all developing countries with new surgical techniques that could potentially help save lives.

“I was asked to be involved in Surgical Friends by Dr. Kami Parsa, who has a tremendous passion for correcting these problems for patients from around the world,” shared Dr. Calvert when asked why he decided to join the Foundation. “We’re donating our care, we’re donating our time, and we believe that’s [going to] make a difference, and if it’s one patient at a time then so be it,” Dr. Calvert added, “But I think it’s an attitude about healthcare that’s really [going to] lead Surgical Friends to a different level.” Dr. Calvert offers his expertise in plastic surgery and rhinoplasty to help patients achieve facial harmony.

The goal to make a difference is what makes Surgical Friends a unique philanthropic activity. As more and more children are born with congenital defects like pediatric deformities, missing limbs and cleft palate, the demand for proper medical attention has risen as well. Dr. Calvert and the rest of the team help alleviate this demand by offering their medical expertise and surgical services for free to those who need them most.

Dr. Jay Calvert received his Medical Degree at the Cornell University Medical College in New York and completed his residency training in General and Plastic Surgery at the University of Pittsburg in Pennsylvania. Certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery, he performs all types of plastic surgery and specializes in aesthetic surgery and rhinoplasty. Dr. Calvert practices in Beverly Hills and Orange County, California and is one of the co-founders of Surgical Friends Foundation.
