Dr. Jay Calvert explains the risks of out of country plastic surgery

With the economy in its current state of recession, more and more people are turning to other countries to have their Plastic surgery done. Some procedures can be successful at a fraction of the price that it would cost here at the U.S., however, it is not without its risks. Dr. Jay Calvert, a board certified plastic surgeon in the Los Angeles area, talks about some of the dangers of getting plastic surgery in another country.

Choosing the right plastic surgeon is of the utmost importance when one considers altering their body permanently. Just recently, Dr. Jay Calvert was invited, as a guest, to speak with a woman that was planning to get two procedures done in Tijuana, Mexico. They had a brief discussion in terms of what the patient wanted and what her expectations were. Dr. Calvert also spoke with her about the doctor’s qualifications and whether she spoke to him personally and learned about his surgical background.

The answers given to the doctor raised some concerns, therefore prompting him to attempt to change her mind about an out of country procedure. The surgery desired could be done in Mexico for half of the price of that in Los Angeles, however, if there were any complications post surgery, the patient would be left out in the cold. Dr. Calvert then stated that if the procedure were to be done at his facility, the pre and post op care would be above and beyond the standard. The patient was assured that any complications, if any, would be dealt with.

Despite all the risks associated with having a procedure outside the United States, the patient still opted to go forth with the procedure in Mexico. Dr. Calvert is optimistic that her procedure goes without any hitches.

When deciding to have plastic surgery, only a surgeon with proper qualifications and a reputable background should be considered. Dr. Jay Calvert is a certified cosmetic surgeon with much experience and an extensive track record. To learn more visit: http://www.jaycalvertmd.com.
